thoughts on the oscars

javier bardem is surprisingly attractive without the prince valiant haircut. totally deserving of best supporting actor.

the guy from atonement isn't bad looking either, but dude. he's mr. tumnus. i can't get past that.

how embarrassed are the guys who wrote the soundtrack to enchanted? three out of the five nominees for best song were theirs and they STILL didn't win. speaking of, does anyone remember elliott smith not winning for good will hunting? maybe that was the real reason for the knife in the chest deal.

ok, that's all i got. except for this video, which has nothing to do with the oscars, but i found it and it's my favorite part of one of my favorite movies, and the skyline you can see in the very beginning is where i work.

love is in the air, get bugspray

from the sign for khyber north indian grill.

so i got bangs. they are fairly swoopy, to use andrea's word. i like them but they always make me look about fifteen years younger. (which probably isn't a great idea, since a few weeks ago a guy on the bus asked me if i was 17. he looked disappointed when i said i was 25.. i guess if it's not statutory, where's the fun?) the upside to this is that someday when i'm sitting around the rest home, watching 'wheel' in between shuffleboard tournaments and yelling "i said no thick-it!", i can just go for a haircut and then everyone will mistake me for one of the nurses. that's what i'll keep telling myself anyway.

another bus story:
on the way to work, we stop to pick up a guy in a wheelchair. immediately the elderly man next to me turns and says "this guy is a faker, i seen him! he can walk!" not really knowing how to respond to an accusation like that, i just nod. then the woman in front of me turns around and tells me the same thing. "'i see him walkin around here drunk, that motherfucker can WALK!'" despite the minor outcry, the guy still got on, presumably to ride for free (handicap discount). what i really hoped for was a big lebowski-esque ending, where the elderly man grabs the guy under the arms, tells the faker to stand up, and then drops him on the floor.

i am currently listening to atlas sound, who is not bad so far. you have to give credit to the skinny emo guy who is the band, because he has marfan syndrome and therefore a legitimate reason to be both skinny and emo.

hey hey

so i'm trying this out, mostly because i like adding pictures to blogs, and myspace doesn't really make it easy. it's not like i have anything terribly interesting to say, so heads up. a few updates in simple excitingly punctuated sentences!

i went to a rockets game last night!
it was 75 degrees today!
i hate cooking sometimes!
i'm going to bed!
